History of Super Cars
There are arguments over the creation of the world's first super car based on one's definition of term. Some purist argue that there were no real super cars until the Lamborghini Miura in 1966-71, other state a strong case for the 1965 Ford GT40.
The term 'super car' was first used in the 1920s until the mid 1950s that high performance sport cars began to appear. In terms of engine power and dynamism, Mercedes led the field for quite a time, developing the impressive 300SL Gull Wing in 1954 which could easily hit a top speed of 165mph. However, the 50s and 60s were dominated by the coming-of-age of Porsche and Ferrari.
Super cars like the Chevrolet Corvette C1, Mercedes 300SL, Lamborghini Miura, Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40 and the McLaren F1 are a few super cars that were earlier manufactured.
